
Disability Belongs™, in partnership with the Fox Family Foundation, offers five paid Fellowships after completing our National Leadership Program. The Fox Family Foundation (FFF) is a grant-making organization dedicated to building a more equitable society, especially in the lives of those who are low-income and/or low-vision.
Nature of Work
This remote position requires a 10-hour minimum weekly commitment. Accepted Fellows must be available for one weekly 90-minute team huddle that is mandatory. There is an additional weekly 90-minute team huddle that is optional. Team huddles are used for group collaboration, team building and professional development.
The Fellowship is designed to build transferable skills while providing Fellows with the opportunity to work on their business acumen. During the Fellowship, participants will be exposed to an array of philanthropic activities and will support in building capacity for FFF’s InVisions program that focuses on activating the rising generation to create accessible and inclusive solutions.
Specifically, you will:
- Research and Appointment Set: Identify key individuals within schools, after school programs, home school communities and other youth-centered programs and set appointments for InVisions program adoption.
- Outreach: Help establish a network of judges, mentors, and experts by connecting with leaders within organizations committed to DEI, academic institutions and research centers as well as thought-leaders within the disabled community.
- Evaluate: Review grantee applicants and evaluate their potential contribution to InVisions and/or the Fox Family Foundation mission.
- Assess: Test and refine the InVisions’ delivery methods and accessibility features to ensure inclusion for all.
- Mentor: Serve as a mentor for students enrolling in the InVisions program, offering guidance and support.
- Report: Generate weekly reports of all work achievements which will be submitted in the form of a brief written summary.
In this context, you will play a pivotal role in expanding InVisions’ reach and impact by unlocking partnerships with key organizations and experts in the fields of accessibility, and disability advocacy. Your efforts would involve coordinating educational workshops, enhancing the curriculum with real-world case studies, and facilitating mentorship opportunities to enrich participants’ learning experiences.
Application Requirements
- Remote work capability: Given the national nature of the fellowship, applicants must have the ability to work remotely. This means you should have a stable internet connection and a quiet, suitable space for work.
- Access to necessary equipment: To participate effectively in the fellowship, applicants must have access to the following equipment:
- Computer: A reliable computer is necessary for various tasks such as research, writing, virtual meetings, and presentations. The computer should have up-to-date software and security features to ensure smooth and secure operations. Candidate is responsible for providing their own computer and any assistive devices needed for use.
- Phone: A reliable phone is necessary for calls, text messages, emails, and even video conferences. It’s also useful for staying connected with the fellowship community and for urgent communications. Candidate is responsible for providing their own phone.
- Proficiency in key software applications: Applicants should be proficient in using popular software applications, including but not limited to:
- Google Docs & Google Sheets
- Email & calendaring
- Zoom
- Various other popular programs
Compensation
The compensation is $22/hour, paid in 15-minute increments. Reimbursement for prior approved business expenses relating to travel will be provided.
