Aaron Potter
Aaron Potter (he/him) is an Entertainment and Media Fellow in Disability Belongs™’ National Leadership Program for Spring 2025. Disability Belongs™ is a national nonprofit organization fighting stigmas and advancing opportunities so that people with disabilities can fully participate in all aspects of community.
Potter is an award-winning actor, writer, and filmmaker with more than 15 years of experience in film and television. He found his start as a background artist while still in his final year of secondary school. Potter took screenwriting classes and ultimately created his own productions for the independent market. After a few years of creating and filming across multiple countries, Potter had two feature films, four short films, and several global accolades under his belt from multiple prestigious film festivals, including Best of Fest (International Short Film Category) at the Catalina Film Festival for his latest venture Secret Sweets which first premiered at the TCL Chinese Theater as part of the Dances with Films official line-up. With no sign of slowing down, Potter moved from his village in the UK to Los Angeles, where he signed with Arise Artists Agency and went on to co-star in the upcoming limited television series Good American Family for Hulu & ABC (double-episode premiere on March 19, 2025).
Potter has a long history of dedicated work to social causes, specifically suicide prevention and raising awareness around mental health, domestic abuse, addiction, LGBTQ+ visibility, promoting adoption, and accessibility/opportunities for persons living with disabilities. With the support of First4Adoption (UK’s National Adoption Service) and NASA, Potter’s short film The Room Landing premiered at and opened the National Adoption Awards in London at the world’s first ever orphanage, honoring incredible social workers across the United Kingdom. Potter was interviewed multiple times on BBC Radio for his 3-part poetry short film collection I Invoke Neurosis that raised discussions on a variety of social issues. He was featured on the cover of aTEEN magazine (the teen edition of Europe’s biggest gay magazine, Attitude). He has had his work showcased as part of the official line-up for the groundbreaking Flicks4Change Film Festival in Los Angeles.
