Rebecca Langbein, Manager, National Leadership Program
Rebecca Langbein is the Manager, National Leadership Program, at the disability advocacy nonprofit organization Disability Belongs™.
Langbein is an engineer-turned-occupational therapist who is passionate about making spaces and communities more inclusive for people with disabilities.
After getting her doctorate degree, Rebecca began working with The Universal Design Project, a nonprofit organization seeking to increase the number of financially and physically accessible homes in the US. She also worked at Disability Solutions where she partnered with clients to support them in making their workplaces more inclusive for people with disabilities. In this role, she also led a project with a multi-national pharmaceutical company, identifying opportunities to enhance inclusion for people with disabilities in clinical research. Stemming from that work, Rebecca authored a report for the National Council on Disability, outlining opportunities for federal agencies to better include the disabled community in clinical research.
Rebecca is passionate about mentorship, having had an experience with a college mentor who believed in all of her seemingly “too big” dreams. Rebecca strives to be this type of champion for the National Leadership Program Fellows!
Rebecca gave a TEDx talk that has more than 40,000 views in which she shared her passion for interdisciplinary and human-centered design. She is also the co-host of the Good Fit, Poor Fit podcast which explores the interaction between people, design, and activity.
Most importantly, beyond the workplace, Rebecca is a sister, daughter, “cat Mom” and bibliophile who loves to learn. She spends her free time kickboxing, practicing muay thai, baking, and spending time with her family. She lives with her partner and cat, Raya, in the suburbs of Philadelphia.
